South-Korean Enterprises Made Promotional Introductions at “Select Shandong” Cloud Platform Weifang Symposium

Today, the event of “Select Shandong” Cloud Platform-South Korean Enterprises’ Investment Event in Qilu was held in Weifang. At the investment symposium in the morning, South Korean enterprises took turns to make a pitch for their projects involving such emerging industries as software development, intelligent manufacturing, bio-medicine and cultural tourism, which attracted strong interest from Chinese enterprises and investment institutions. On the one-to-one matchmaking meeting, Chinese enterprises and investment institutions reached cooperation intentions with South Korean enterprises in some projects. 

The investment symposium was hosted by Mr. Wang Haotian, Deputy Director of Weifang Bureau of Commerce. Mr. Jin Xiaofeng, head of the International Investment Promotion Agency of Shandong Province, and Mr. Liu Cangyi, Director of Center for Economic and Technological Cooperation of Weifang, attended the symposium and delivered speeches. Nearly 100 participants including the representatives of enterprises from South Korea, Chinese investment institutions and enterprises attended the symposium.

  A better business environment 

The “Select Shandong” Cloud Platform-South Korean Enterprises’ Investment Event in Qilu was sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, undertaken by the International Investment Promotion Agency of Shandong Province, Shandong Internet Media Group www.dzwww.com, Weihai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Weifang Bureau of Commerce, and Rizhao Bureau of Commerce, and co-organized by the China-Japan-South Korea SMEs Two-way Investment Promotion Public Service Platform.

Mr. Jin Xiaofeng said in his speech that the International Investment Promotion Agency of Shandong Province, as a home to the industrial parks and enterprises, would try its best to provide services and cooperation. With so many projects introduced by South Korean enterprises, he hoped that these enterprises could communicate more with Chinese enterprises and investment institutions, so as to reach more cooperation.

“In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between Weifang and South Korea has deepened continuously.” Mr. Liu Cangyi, Director of Center for Economic and Technological Cooperation of Weifang, said that currently there are 578 South Korean-funded enterprises in Weifang, which is the second largest source of foreign capital in the city. Weifang will further optimize the business environment and provide all-round support for South Korean enterprises and investors.

In the road show, China-Japan-South Korea SMEs Two-way Investment Promotion Public Service Platform, Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone and China-South Korea Technology Transfer Center made promotional introductions, respectively.

According to a principal of Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone, as an important node connecting the Yangtze River Delta and Beijing-Tianjin region, Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone connects the bonded port in Northeast Asia, which is the gathering place of marine industry cluster, with obvious geographical advantages. After years of development, the infrastructure is basically complete and the industry has formed a certain scale in the zone, with significant advantages in investment and development.

According to Hong Yan, Director of China-Japan-South Korea SMEs Two-way Investment Promotion Public Service Platform, the platform has been dedicated to providing one-stop two-way services of intelligent business and investment attraction and promotion for China-Japan-South Korea SMEs, governments and industrial parks since it was launched in April 2018. Up to now, the platform has organized more than 32 investment promotion activities, and invited 40 batches of Japanese and South Korean businessmen to inspect Weihai, thus actively promoting exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and Japanese and South Korean enterprises in the fields of investment, trade, technology, culture and education management. 

    A group of South Korean enterprises made introductions 

  Most of the projects are emerging industries 

In the morning’s investment symposium, in addition to such projects as core parts of injection molding machines, noise reduction headphones and metal grinders brought by three companies, including Venta Korea Co., Ltd., Su Hyun Tech Co., Ltd. and Yin Seong ENG, An Dong Kyu, Office Director of Hongik Group also invited seven Korean enterprises to participate in the activity of “Select Shandong” Cloud Platform-South Korean Enterprises’ Investment Event in Qilu. They made pitches for their projects on emerging industries such as intelligent manufacturing, bio-medicine, software development and cultural tourism.

Wi Bi Cheu Tech Co., Ltd. is a South Korean high-tech company focusing on software development and system integration service. Its General Manager Park Hyeok said in his pitch that he hoped to cooperate with Chinese enterprises in logistics, IT, e-commerce and medical devices.

Yi Gan Tech Co., Ltd., the first chain of automatic car washes in South Korea, has 400 outlets in South Korea. “There are a huge number of cars in China, and I would like to take this opportunity to develop the automatic car washing market with Chinese enterprises.” Said Min Seong Dong, Director of Yi Gan Tech Co., Ltd. 

Park Sung Lan, President of South Korea’s Chinese Tourist Guides Association, said that the purpose of her special trip to Weifang to participate in the activity of “Select Shandong” Cloud Platform-South Korean Enterprises’ Investment Event in Qilu was to find some partners to carry out concrete cooperation in the research and development of tourism resources, information exchange of cultural and artistic industries, and tourism service education between China and South Korea.

During the investment symposium, Chinese and South Korean enterprises conducted one-to-one communication. Many enterprises were well prepared. They offered brochures, samples of products and promotional videos. Those materials helped for deepening mutual understanding when they made an introduction.

At the end of the symposium, the delegation of South Korean enterprises of this activity visited Weifang National Agricultural Open Development Comprehensive Experiment Zone and East Asia Livestock Products Exchange.
