Shandong province is currently home to 24 national-level industrial design centers, more than any other province in China, according to Kong Qingcheng, deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.
Kong discussed the development of the province's industrial design sector at the Shandong Industrial Design Investment & Talent Introduction Promotional Meeting on Nov 25 during the ongoing 2020 World Industrial Design Conference.
The Shandong provincial government attaches great importance to industrial design and sees it as an important means of deepening supply-side structural reforms and upgrading the manufacturing industry, he added.
Shandong is home to 247 provincial industrial design centers and a large number of municipal industrial design centers.
The event, hosted by the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, aims to provide a platform for mutual communication and cooperation in the industrial design sector and to promote the high-quality development of the province’s industrial economy.
Representatives of industrial design research institutes in Yantai, Jinan, Zibo, Binzhou, and Qingdao, as well as the Shandong Industrial Design Institute, also gave promotional speeches at the event.
Yantai, as the host city of the World Industrial Design Conference, is seeing signs of a promising future in the design industry.
The city plans to carry out 10 major industrial design construction projects, including the China-German Industrial Design Center, the Shandong Industrial Design Institute, and the Yantai International Design Town, in an effort to develop into a hub for industrial design.
