Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province has released new policies focusing on seven aspects to promote its nighttime economy in winter and to further unleash its consumption potential, according to the Jinan municipal commerce bureau.
To achieve these objectives, Jinan will cultivate a batch of featured venues for nighttime consumption and organize winter-themed activities.
More night markets and music salons will be organized among major commercial venues. Large-scale winter-themed light shows will be launched along Quancheng Road, which will also benefit the nearby Kuanhouli and Baihuazhou streets.
Local authorities will support night performances of traditional Chinese operas such as Lyu Opera, Liuqin Opera and Laiwu Bangzi and improve facilities and services of cultural performance venues to attract tourists from home and abroad.
The city will promote commercial complexes such as Hang Lung Plaza, Shimao International Plaza, Mixc, Inzone, and Outlets, and make full use of its conference venues to introduce various national and provincial meetings and forums to drive economic prosperity of surrounding business areas.
The Jinan Public Sport Center will organize more night sports events and enhance activities such as night running and square dancing, which are more interactive and enjoyable.
The outdoor fitness area of the Jinan Olympic Sports Center will be open round the clock for residents. The stadiums, gymnasiums and fitness clubs in districts and counties will also extend their nighttime opening hours.
Catering entities have been encouraged to operate after midnight to boost consumption. Major shopping malls have also been urged to launch promotional activities during the holidays, such as New Year's Day, the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival.
