Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province is ramping up efforts to attract talent, the Jinan municipal government announced on March 3.
According to the authorities, the local government has provided supporting funds for local talent and established a scholarship program which admits outstanding students from colleges and universities in Jinan. Each of these students will receive a grant of 3,000 yuan ($463.90).
Every year, 500 students from well-known universities from home and abroad will be selected to undergo a one-month training stint in Jinan, and each will be given a subsidy of 2,000 yuan.
Local authorities will provide 1,000 internship positions every year. Those who take part in short-term training and stay in Jinan during the period of employment selection will be given a training subsidy of up to 3,000 yuan. Graduates from the top 200 overseas universities in the world will be given a subsidy of up to 300,000 yuan.
The local government will also increase financial support for innovation and entrepreneurship. A funding up to 500,000 yuan will be given to startups created by outstanding overseas students.
Doctoral, masters, bachelors and post-secondary graduates will stand to receive a monthly allowance of 1,500 yuan, 1,000 yuan, 700 yuan and 500 yuan respectively for living expenses and rent. Doctoral and masters graduates also stand to receive a one-time housing subsidy of 150,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan respectively.
