According to customs statistics, in May, Shandong's imports and exports amounted to RMB 231.47 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45.6% and an increase of 36.3% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 16.7% over two years. Among them, exports were RMB 131.06 billion, a year-on-year increase of 37.3%, and an increase of 44.2% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 20.1% over two years; imports were RMB 100.41 billion, a year-on-year increase of 58.1% and an increase of 27.1% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 12.7% over two years.
From a national perspective, in May, Shandong's import and export, export and import growth rates were 18.7, 19.2, and 18.6 percentage points higher than the national level, respectively. In the first five months, Shandong's imports and exports amounted to RMB 1071.86 billion, a year-on-year increase of 38.9% and an increase of 33.8% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 15.7% over two years. Among them, exports were RMB 599.53 billion, a year-on-year increase of 38.9% and an increase of 40.9% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 18.7% over two years; imports were RMB 472.33 billion, a year-on-year increase of 38.9% and an increase of 25.7% over the same period in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 12.1% over two years.
From January to May, the growth rates of Shandong's imports and exports, export and import growth rates were 10.7, 8.8, and 13 percentage points higher than the national level. Compared with Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong, Shandong's import and export, and export growth rates ranked first, and its import rates ranked second.
