Highlighted Strategy of “Prosperous Shandong Province with Talents” 2,274,800 College Students Come to and Stay at Shandong for Employment

Zhang Yuge, an MA graduate from the University of Edinburgh last year and now an employee in the Human Resource Department of Shandong Institutes of Industrial Technology (SDIIT) said that: “Most employees in SDIIT are young and talented with innovative thinking. Technology workshops, forums and other activities are often held here to exchange the leading and high technologies, which facilitate personal growth much.” In the last few months, she recruited massive excellent college graduates in SDIIT with passion.  

Shandong Province has started a key project to convert the new and old driving forces for development. Under such circumstances, great attention was paid to the construction of young talent teams and a reform of the talent development system and mechanism keeps going forward. Through the general introduction, cultivation, evaluation, incentive, service, guarantee and other links, the number of college students staying at Shandong Province has increased year after year and the effect of the strategy of “Prosperous Shandong with Talents” is highlighted.

“Keeping local talents”, “attracting foreign talents”

Over 2 million college graduates selected to stay at Shandong in the past 4 years

Zhang Yuge is only an example among millions of excellent college graduates who selected to come to and stay at Shandong.

Data show that from 2017 to 2020, the number of college graduates in Shandong reaches 2,274,800 with an annual average growth rate of 8.83% in the past 4 years.

Shandong Province is well-known for the “down-to-earth” characteristic and more and more college students inside and outside Shandong were attracted here. The Recruitment Manager of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (CNHTC), Duan Zhenxing noted that “Shandong is a large agriculture province and some prefecture-level cities are close to the sea. Enterprises here feature great prospects and the house price is affordable. So, residents here enjoy a high happiness index in the environment, diet and personal growth.” Since 2019, a majority of new employees of the group are college students outside Shandong Province. In 2021, CNHTC is expected to embrace 1400 graduates this year. Among these graduates, some selected to stay here after college on account of various talent attraction strategies in Shandong.

It is also learned that to enhance the intensity for attracting college graduates, in 2021, Shandong Province will continue the “Shandong-College Graduate Recruitment System” activity. As of now, the provincial government together with various municipal governments has organized 147 offline talent attraction activities, and the number of resumes received has reached 34824 with 15959 graduates preliminarily showing the intention to work here. With respect to the “Online talent attraction” activity, online direct recruitment is available throughout the year. From February to May, special online recruitment activities are held and the internship activities in large companies are organized from May to August. In the previous activities, more than 420 employers were recommended for over 100 “double first-rate” universities and important media platforms, covering more than 20,000 jobs, which were highly recognized by these universities.
