Promoting the high-quality development of renewable energy is an inevitable choice of achieving the strategic goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality". According to a recent press conference held by the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, Shandong has worked out the "fourteenth five-year" action plan for renewable energy doubling with a focus on preferentially developing and utilizing renewable energy in energy transformation, setting the goal of doubling Shandong's total renewable energy consumption, installed capacity and electricity production by 2025 compared to the end of the "thirteenth five-year" period.
To achieve carbon peaking and neutrality, Shandong has worked out the "fourteenth five-year" action plan for renewable energy doubling, striving to double Shandong's total renewable energy consumption, installed capacity and electricity production by 2025 compared to 2020.
Under the plan, Shandong has deployed operations in four clean energy bases: the 10GW offshore wind power base of Shandong Peninsula, the 10GW wind/PV energy storage and transmission base in northern Shandong's saline-alkali shoals, the PV base in southwestern Shandong's mining subsidence area, and the renewable energy base in the channel for power transmission from outside Shandong. Shandong will fully leverage its strengths in wind energy, solar energy and other resources, to implement major base projects in areas with favorable conditions, thereby promoting the massive and base-oriented development of wind power and PV. Meanwhile, Shandong will encourage energy enterprises to build major bases for power transmission through renewable energy outside Shandong via the above-mentioned power transmission channel. Through the contiguous and massive development of renewable energy, these bases will boost the leapfrog development of Shandong.
