On the afternoon of September 27, the 2022 Nishan China-Greece Dialogue on Classical Civilizations was held at Academic Hall of Nishan Sacred Land in Qufu, with the theme "Tracing and Prospect: The Origin and Future of Civilizations". Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Governor of Shandong Province, attended the dialogue and delivered an address.
Zhou Naixiang said that, as an important cradle of Chinese civilization and Confucianism, Shandong is duty-bound to implement President Xi Jinping's important initiative to conduct dialogue with Greece, facilitate exchanges of global civilizations and promote the common values of all mankind. Shandong advocates viewing different civilizations from an equal and inclusive perspective, promoting the convergence and fusion of diverse civilizations in an open and inclusive manner, and jointly open up a new prospect of cherishing own civilizations and appreciating others. Shandong will take this opportunity to promote the steady development of exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, science & technology, sister cities, youth and other fields.
Jiang Cheng, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, hosted the dialogue. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, former President of Greece; Xiao Junzheng, Chinese Ambassador to Greece; Georgios Iliopoulos, Greek Ambassador to China; and Li Xikui, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries delivered addresses. At the dialogue, Chinese and foreign scholars exchanged ideas on issues such as the development path of Chinese and Greek classical civilizations from the perspective of world civilizations, and the Nishan Consensus of China-Greece Dialogue on Classical Civilizations was released.
