In recent years, Shandong has vigorously developed the environmental protection industry and cultivated and expanded new growth drivers. A large number of environmental protection manufacturing enterprises, environmental service enterprises and comprehensive resource utilization enterprises have thrived. In 2022, Shandong ranked first in the country in terms of the number of environmental protection enterprises and ranked among the top in terms of output value. The vibrant environmental protection industry is becoming a new green growth force for Shandong's economic development.

In December last year, the Three-year Action Plan for Building a Leading Area of Green, Low-carbon and High-quality Development in Shandong Province (2023-2025) was issued, clearly proposing to actively develop green and low-carbon industries and vigorously develop energy-saving and environmental protection equipment and services.

At present, Shandong is vigorously implementing the "311" project for the high-quality development of the environmental protection industry, actively promoting the construction of three major industrial clusters in Jinan, Qingdao and Zibo, building 10 characteristic parks for the environmental protection industry with clear positioning, distinctive features and obvious advantages in Yantai, Dezhou, Rizhao and other cities, and cultivating and expanding top 100 enterprises in the environmental protection industry.
