A delegation from Shandong Province led by Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee Lin Wu visited Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from September 2 to 7 to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in seizing the development opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative and make new achievements in local cooperation between Shandong and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the delegation had meetings with officials and representatives from all walks of life and conducted various foreign affairs activities in the two countries. Thanks to these efforts, the sister province/region and city relationships between Shandong and the two countries have been strengthened, a group of cooperation mechanisms and projects signed, and a series of important cooperation achievements made. Lin Wu met with Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov of Uzbekistan. During the meetings, Lin Wu introduced Shandong, talked about cooperation, and reached many consensuses with the two countries' leaders.
On the morning of September 4, the China (Shandong)-Kazakhstan conference on cooperation and exchange and celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative was held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Lin Wu as Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee delivered a keynote speech. During the speech, he said that Shandong and Kazakhstan have fostered cooperation and contributed to each other's development under the framework of jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, which has paved the way for mutual cooperation in energy, agriculture, and logistics. A signing ceremony was also held during the event. A total of 14 mechanisms and industrial projects were signed on site, with the combined amount reaching 1.53 billion yuan. During the visit, Lin Wu also attended the ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of the assembly center of the China-Europe (Qilu) freight train in Almaty and the operation of the first train.
During the visit to Uzbekistan, Lin Wu had a talk with Turdimov, Governor of the Samarkand Region. The two sides signed the Action Plan for Friendly Cooperation between the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the Government of the Samarkand Region (2023-2025). On the morning of September 6, the "Hospitable Shandong People, Premium Shandong Products" Exhibition and Promotion Conference & Shandong-Samarkand Enterprise Cooperation and Exchange Meeting was held. Lin Wu attended and addressed the event. In his speech, he hoped that the two sides could further strengthen the sister province/region relationships, explore and promote cooperation in fields such as deep processing of agricultural products, manufacturing of heavy trucks and agricultural machinery, development of the digital economy and park cooperation and co-construction, and achieve higher levels of mutual benefit for all. Moreover, Lin Wu also attended the ceremony to celebrate the 3000th Sinotruk heavy-duty truck rolling off the assembly line at UZ TRUCK AND BUS MOTORS and the signing ceremony of the cooperation project between Sinotruk and Uzavtosanoat on the localized production of new energy buses during the visit.
