Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice on Carrying out Application Acceptance for Open Competition of Future Industrial Innovation Task in 2023. The notice aims to promote scientific and technological progress and facilitate the upgrading and high-quality development of China's modern industries.

The notice highlights China's commitment to advancing a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial upgrading. The Chinese government emphasizes nurturing future industries, including new energy, new materials, advanced manufacturing, and electronic information, while actively promoting the development of new productivity and continuously forming new development advantages. The Chinese government explores and nurtures a group of leading entities with innovative capabilities in key and core technologies, facilitates breakthroughs in key technological products, and accelerates the implementation and application of new technologies and products.

The notice primarily targets two frontiers of future manufacturing and future information technology, focusing on four key directions: metaverse, humanoid robots, brain-computer interfaces, and artificial general intelligence.

Next, the Chinese government will strengthen the scientific and rational evaluation of this task, and promptly announce the list of units selected for the open competition. Local governments are encouraged to leverage their own resources to drive the development of characteristic industries.
