A transport vehicle with the Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention) logo recently arrived in Qingdao with a full load of imported goods. This is the first batch of TIR imported goods in the province, marking the opening of the first TIR entry channel in Shandong. This is also the first TIR import from Uzbekistan to the eastern coastal region of our country via Kazakhstan.
TIR transport has the characteristics of “door to door” and “point to point”. There is no need to unbox the goods unless there are special circumstances along the way, and the enterprise does not need to pay the transit guarantee fee and other expenses along the way, greatly reducing the logistics time and cost.
This is a two-way economic cooperation between the east and the west and connectivity between land and sea. In recent years, relying on its geographical advantages, Shandong has continuously unblocked land and sea trade channels and enhanced land and sea accessibility. In the first eight months of this year, more than 1,700 China Railway Express trains of Qilu were launched. Up to now, the province’s ports have opened more than 330 ship routes, and 35 inland ports have been built.
