On December 13, the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the Government of the Samarkand Region held the Shandong (China)-Samarkand (Uzbekistan) cooperation exchange meeting in the Shandong Hotel. Through the meeting, Shandong and Samarkand aim to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of the two countries, better serve and integrate into the joint efforts of promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote new and greater achievements in bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
Uzbek Ambassador to China Farhod Arziev and Governor of Samarkand Region Turdimov attended the meeting and gave a speech. Noting that Shandong is an economic powerhouse of China, they considered Shandong as a good choice for conducting cooperation with China and thought that there would be broad space for bilateral cooperation. They hoped that Samarkand and Shandong would further strengthen exchanges and coordination, deepen cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, cultural tourism, and other fields, and promote win-win results.
At the meeting, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Sub-council signed a cooperation agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Samarkand; Liaocheng City and Pakhtachi District of Samarkand signed an agreement to establish friendly and cooperative relations; and the Management Committee of China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Samarkand Central Enterprise Industrial Park.
