On January 2, the Information Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province held a routine briefing on the policies of the provincial government and interpreted the List of Policies for Promoting Economic Consolidation and Improvement and Accelerating Green and Low-carbon Development in 2024 (First Batch).
It is reported that in 2024, to further accelerate the energy transition, the List of Policies (First Batch) will continue to promote the large-scale and localized development of new energy, focusing on the development potential of nuclear power, offshore photovoltaics, geothermal energy, and new energy storage.
It will support the accelerated development of nuclear power and encourage nuclear power units to participate in the electricity market. It will optimize the configuration of offshore photovoltaic energy storage to overcome the high development and construction costs of offshore photovoltaics, increase policy breakthrough efforts, optimize project energy storage configuration, and speed up project construction. After 2025, energy storage facilities for completed projects that are connected to the grid should typically be set up with a minimum proportion of 20% and a duration of at least 2 hours. Qualified new independent energy storage facilities may receive priority inclusion in the provincial new energy storage project pool, which aims to enhance development prospects and foster stability and sustainable growth in the energy industry.
