On January 16, the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government held a press conference to introduce Shandong's "continuous and in-depth pollution prevention and control to support high-quality development with a good ecological environment".
Since last year, Shandong has prioritized green and low-carbon industrial development to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system. It has optimized policies for industries with high energy consumption and high pollution such as steel and local oil refining. It has shut down 10 steel enterprises in 7 hub cities, and accelerated the construction of steel capacity replacement projects. The output of coke and crude steel is controlled within 32 million tons and 74.559 million tons respectively. In the first 11 months of last year, 12,113 technological transformation projects worth more than RMB 5 million were completed. The investment in technological transformation increased by 10.6%, 5.5 percentage points higher than the total investment.
Shandong actively developed emerging industries and future industries. For the first time, the output value of high-tech industry accounted for more than 50% of that of industrial enterprises above designated size. Shandong added 106 leading manufacturing enterprises, 352 single champions, 4,589 specialized, sophisticated, distinctive and innovative enterprises, 654 gazelle enterprises and 3 unicorn enterprises. It has a total of 186 national single champions and 1,032 little giant enterprises, all ranking among the top in China.
