Recently, the Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province and other departments jointly issued Several Measures for Accelerating the Innovative Development of the Digital Economy, proposing work measures in seven aspects. Shandong strives to enable the added value of core industries of the digital economy to account for 10% of the entire province's GDP in three years.

As emphasized by the Measures, it is necessary to boost breakthroughs in digital technologies, enhance the supply capacity of digital technologies, implement a batch of major basic research projects every year, and improve the original innovation capability of digital technologies. Shandong Province will accelerate the establishment of a tiered laboratory system for digital technologies and boost the development of high-end smart home appliances and other national new-generation artificial intelligence open-sharing platforms. It will consolidate the principal role of enterprises in sci-tech innovation, strengthen the main forces of the digital economy, and cultivate more than 3,000 new high-tech enterprises in the digital economy field within three years. Besides, Shandong will speed up the transformation of sci-tech achievements, create new growth drivers for the digital industry, and establish itself as a high-level and large sci-tech market through collaboration between the province and cities. Regarding talent as the primary resource, Shandong will implement the key talent introduction and cultivation program to build itself into a province with strong strength in the digital industry. Furthermore, it will empower sci-tech demonstration and accelerate the cultivation and expansion of digital industrial clusters.
