On May 21, the On-site Promotion Meeting of Laboratory System Construction in Shandong Province was held in Yantai, Shandong. It is reported that this year, Shandong Province will focus on new-generation information technology, modern agriculture, medical and health care, high-end equipment, new energy, and other fields, complete the reorganization of 200 provincial key laboratories, accelerate the connection and integration of basic research and industrial innovation, and continuously improve the ability of provincial key laboratories to support industrial development.

In recent years, Shandong Province has accelerated the construction of the "1313" four-level laboratory system to create a source of original innovation. Up to now, Shandong Province has one national laboratory, 21 national key laboratories, nine provincial laboratories, and 277 provincial key laboratories, providing important support for Shandong to accelerate its high-quality development.

In the next step, Shandong Province will focus on 11 key areas of iconic industrial chains, actively strive to create and lay out a number of laboratories, and accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces. Regarding the construction of provincial laboratories, in accordance with the principle of reasonable foresight, 2 to 3 provincial laboratories will be built to provide solid support for building Shandong into a province with strong sci-tech strength in the new era.
