Located in Zouping County, Binzhou City, Zouping Economic and Technological Development Zone neighbors the key industrial city of Zibo in the east, Shandong’s capital city of Jinan in the west, Qingdao–Jinan Railway in the south, and the Yellow River in the north. With Jinan–Qingdao Expressway and Jinan–Qingdao High-speed Railway running through, the Area is only 22km away from the freight yard to the Zhoucun Station of Qingdao–Jinan Railway via the railway line for freight traffic. Situated in a favorable geo-location, the Area enjoys sophisticated transportation that is only 150 km east of the Port of Weifang, 130 km north of the Port of Binzhou and 35 km west of Jinan International Airport.

Initiatively established in 2001, the Area was approved by the provincial government as a province-level economic development zone in June 2003 and upgraded to a state-level one in November 2010. It has been awarded with many honorary titles such as the “Scientific Development Demonstration Park” and the province-level “Advanced Park” of Shandong Province.

It is now the world’s largest production base of cotton textile and crude aluminum, Asia’s largest processing and production base for glucose and corn oil, as well as an important land port base in Binzhou where a bonded logistics center and customs are in service.

The textile and garment industry in Binzhou mainly produces cotton yarn, cotton cloth, clothing and home textiles with a capacity of yielding 6 million spindles of yarns which weighs in 1.6 million tons, 3 billion meters of cloth, over 10 million items of clothes, and 10 million items (sets) of home textiles annually. Thus, Binzhou City has been billed as the “Famous City for Cotton Textile in China”. In addition, the home cotton textile base has been rated as a demonstration base for new industrialization industry in Shandong Province. Weiqiao Pioneering Group, the world’s largest cotton textile enterprise, was listed among Fortune 500 enterprises from 2012 with an upward trend year by year and ranked 159th in 2017.

With regard to aluminum-related industry, a complete industrial chain has taken shape which features “bauxite-alumina-electrolytic aluminum-aluminum processing-aluminum application-recycled aluminum”, creating such industry development modes as “aluminum-power grid-material integration”, “upstream-downstream business integration” and the “global integration”. The Area has emerged as the largest crude aluminum production base worldwide and a major aluminum deep processing and manufacturing base nationwide, with an annual output of 8 million tons of alumina, 3.65 million tons of electrolytic aluminum, and a processing capacity of 4 million tons of various aluminum products. In addition, the light high-strength alloy new material base has been selected as one of the first batch of strategic emerging industry demonstration bases, and the aluminum alloy deep processing & new material base has been dubbed as the new industrialized industrial demonstration base of Shandong Province.

Products of food and medicine industry mainly include corn starch, grease, crystalline glucose, medicinal anhydrous glucose, fructose, and fiber feed. Annually, 4 million tons of corn can be processed here. Given that above, Binzhou is named as the “City of Sugar” and “City of Corn Oil” in China.

In a planned area of 400,000 m², Binzhou Bonded Logistics Center houses more than 120 enterprises and has built and put into use a 16,000 m² bonded exhibition & integrated trading building, two commercial office buildings with a total area of 5,000 m², a 18,000 m² cross-border e-commerce supporting food warehouses, eight closed warehouses with a total area of 42,000 m², and 88,000 m² container yard and bulk cargo yard. Two 36,000 m² standard workshops of the first phase of the production and processing area have been completed and put into operation and another four standardized factory buildings of the second phase are under construction. After the completion of the production and processing area, it will lay the foundation for the Area to declare as a comprehensive bonded zone, which will be the cross-border park with the largest cross-border cargo clearance in the bonded area (bonded logistics center) in Shandong Province.
