Kearney, a global management consulting firm, has recently released the 2024 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Confidence Index. This annual survey shows that China has jumped from 7th position last year to 3rd, and topped the emerging market rankings.
The survey reveals that 88% of respondents worldwide plan to increase their FDI in the next three years, up by 6 percentage points from the previous year. In the FDI Confidence Index world rankings, the United States has been in the lead for 12 consecutive years, with Canada securing second place once again, and China in third, maintaining its position at the top of emerging markets. The United Kingdom, Germany, and France are ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
He Xiaoqing, President of Kearney Greater China, pointed out that in recent years, the Chinese government has continuously conveyed a policy orientation of actively strengthening its openness to the outside world. This includes measures such as opening up foreign investment in the banking sector and a series of initiatives such as last year’s exemption of visa requirements for Germany, France, and other countries, as well as further expanding the visa-free entry to travelers from six European countries, which has continuously boosted investor confidence.
