The General Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province recently issued the Implementation Plan for the High-quality Development of Iconic Industrial Chains Led by Sci-tech Innovation (2024-2027), proposing that Shandong Province will focus on iconic industrial chains to strengthen the leadership of sci-tech innovation. By 2027, there will be about 200 major innovation achievements and 2,400 new high-level talents at the national and provincial levels. The number of high-tech enterprises in Shandong Province will reach 50,000, with those in fields of iconic industrial chains accounting for 80%. The output value of high-tech industries above the designated size will account for about 55% of the output value of industries above the designated size. Moreover, iconic industrial chains will have significantly greater original innovation capabilities and become core engines that drive the economic growth of the entire province.

The Implementation Plan focuses on the innovative development of 11 iconic industrial chains such as those for the new generation of information technology, new energy equipment, and advanced materials. It specifies 29 strategic fields as the main direction and breakthrough point of sci-tech innovation. A sci-tech innovation system with the main role of enterprises, market orientation, and in-depth integration of industry, academia, research, and application will be systematically built to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces and lead the establishment of a modern industrial system with Shandong's advantages.
