The generator arrived at the Dongying General Assembly Base of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Haizhuang Windpower Co., Ltd. (CSSC Haizhuang Windpower) Before its arrival, other core components had been delivered to the Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, including gear cases, main shafts, bearings, bearing pedestals, hubs, and racks, enabling the near-future launch of the wind turbine generator with the world's largest single-unit capacity and rotor diameter.
Early next year, CSSC Haizhuang Windpower will launch the H260-18.0MW offshore wind turbine. As the latest product developed on the H16.X platform, it is designed with 260-meter-diameter impellers and 128-meter-long blades, permanent magnet generators, and high-speed transmission chains. In addition, it features an independent variable pitch system to reduce loads. This marks that China has led the world in developing and manufacturing large offshore wind turbines.
In recent years, Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone has endeavored to develop the offshore wind power equipment industry and successfully implemented 21 quality projects of such enterprises as CSSC Haizhuang Windpower, Shanghai Electric, and Jinlei Technology. In addition, 39 projects under negotiation expect to attract a total investment of 28.4 billion yuan. Leading enterprises have clustered in the zone, driving the settlement of a number of upstream and downstream projects in the industrial chain and allowing the initial formation of the industrial cluster of offshore wind power equipment.
