In 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology made its first selection of "digital pilot" enterprises, and four Shandong-based enterprises were inscribed on the list, including the equipment manufacturer CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., the petrochemical enterprise Sailun Group, the light industry enterprise Haier Smart Home, and the electronic information enterprise Inspur Information. This time, Shandong had 11 platforms selected into the list of characteristic specialized industrial internet platforms released concurrently, bringing the total number in this regard to 29, ranking first in China.

Shandong will build a "wild goose queue" of the industrial internet with "digital pilot" enterprises taking the lead. Focusing on the bottlenecks that hinder the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, the province will also make efforts to upgrade the digital infrastructure such as industrial internet platforms and industrial big data centers, and improve both the quality and quantity of demonstration applications like intelligent factories and digital workshops, thus further building a sound base for the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry and driving deeper changes in manufacturing models, production organization methods, and industrial formats.
