On May 19, the 13th China Tourism Day, the Opening Ceremony of the First Shandong (Weihai) International Marine Tourism Culture Year & 2023 China-South Korea Marine Culture Festival was held at Weihai Great Wall Resort Hotel. It was sponsored by the Shandong Excellent Tourism Promotion Association and Weihai Excellent Tourism Promotion Association.

The festival will last from May 19 to October 30, during which other activities will also be held, such as the Opening Ceremony of the First Shandong (Weihai) International Marine Tourism Culture Year & 2023 China-South Korea Marine Culture Festival, the First "Hello Weihai" China-South Korea Marine Culture Carnival 2023, the First China-South Korea Maritime Pioneers Theme Salon in 2023, the "Hello Weihai" Creative Competition of Short Videos for China-South Korea Marine Culture and Tourism, the "ILoveSea" Environmental Protection Public Welfare Theme Practice, and so on.

The Awarding Ceremony of China-South Korea Coastal Cities New Media Alliance Base was held at the opening ceremony. The base will regularly carry out a series of brand activities or competitions integrating marine history, marine culture, marine science and technology, marine products, new marine landmarks and AR marine live streaming, so as to build an in-depth integration platform for the development of marine culture and new media that integrates big shot forums, research and study, brand IP gathering, capital matchmaking and talent pooling.
