"Genghai No.1" is China's first comprehensive, demonstrative and integrated intelligent large modern ecological marine ranching complex platform. It takes the lead in integrating fishery breeding, smart fishery, recreational fishery, sci-tech R&D, marine education and other functions to realize the deep integration of primary and tertiary industries and open up a new path for the development of modern marine ranching in China.

All kinds of marine equipment on "Genghai No.1" are technologically advanced. Solar and wind power generation systems can basically meet the daily electricity demand of the platform. The same anti-pollution treatment system as that used in the Antarctic Great Wall Station can transport the treated sewage to the land wharf designated by the environmental protection department for centralized treatment, realizing zero discharge of sewage into the sea. Seawater desalination equipment can produce 20 cubic meters of fresh water per day, meeting the fresh water demand of the platform for three days.

As a powerful province in the marine economy, Shandong boasts more than 3,000 kilometers of coastline. In recent years, Shandong has promoted the transformation and upgrading of offshore fisheries and the construction of a marine ranching demonstration area. Thanks to these efforts, many modern marine ranching platforms have been built, providing vivid examples of exploiting the sea in an eco-friendly manner and also becoming popular getaways for tourists to enjoy the sea.
