From September 16 to 19, 2023, the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Shandong hopes to take advantage of the excellent occasion to promote "Premium Shandong Products" from agriculture to ASEAN countries and even the world and strengthen international trade in agricultural products and exchanges and cooperation in agriculture with ASEAN countries.

In 2022, Shandong's foreign trade with ASEAN countries totaled 37.26 billion yuan, of which 12.48 billion yuan was from imports and 24.78 billion yuan came from exports. From January to July 2023, Shandong's foreign trade with ASEAN countries amounted to 19.28 billion yuan, of which 6.39 billion yuan was from imports and 12.89 billion yuan came from exports. Shandong exported a variety of agricultural products to ASEAN countries, such as peanut oil, peanuts, apples, garlic, ginger, grain, seafood, and meat products. Now, ASEAN has become a crucial market for Shandong's agricultural products.

During the Expo, more than 100 enterprises from Shandong's delegation held face-to-face negotiations with more than 50 enterprises from ASEAN countries and four Chinese provinces including Guangxi and Guangdong to carry out production and marketing matchmaking and discuss trade in commodities, project investment cooperation, trade in services, etc. Preliminary cooperation intentions were reached and agreements were signed on the site.
