Recently, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine held a press conference on Shandong's construction of a national demonstration zone for the comprehensive reform of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to elaborate on Shandong's innovative measures and progress in this regard.
At the conference, Ma Lixin, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Health Commission of Shandong Province and Director of the Shandong Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced Shandong's measures and achievements in accelerating the development and upgrading of the TCM industry. Specifically, Shandong has formulated and implemented a five-year plan for the development of the TCM industry; one TCM industrial cluster has been selected among the "goose formation" clusters of the healthcare and elderly care industry in the province; five TCM enterprises have been rated as cluster-leading enterprises; last year, the operating revenue of TCM manufacturing enterprises above the designated size in the province exceeded 67 billion yuan, up 45% year on year.
In addition, Shandong has issued 10 supporting documents such as Policies and Measures for Further Strengthening Medical Security to Support the Inheritance, Innovation and Development of TCM and Action Plan for "Making Breakthrough in TCM Development". Shandong has also strengthened coordination at the provincial and municipal levels, innovated and established an open competition mechanism, planned a number of key fields that need a breakthrough, selected 35 reform projects, and encouraged all places in the province to conduct exploration and innovation.
