On November 14, the Information Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province held a regular policy briefing to interpret the Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Development and Utilization of Geothermal Energy. According to the document, it is planned that by 2025, more than 10 million square meters of geothermal heating (cooling) area will be added in Shandong and a number of comprehensive demonstration projects such as urban and rural geothermal heating and ecological agriculture will be developed; by 2030, the geothermal heating (cooling) area in Shandong will exceed 100 million square meters and a national demonstration zone for high-quality development of geothermal energy will be built to develop the province into a leading province in terms of geothermal energy development and utilization in China.
According to Hu Bo, Deputy Director of the Shandong Development and Reform Commission and Director-General of the Energy Administration of Shandong Province, the document will follow the guidance of the "dual carbon" strategic goal and continue to deepen the energy revolution. Focused on increasing the supply of clean energy, the document will accelerate the development and utilization of geothermal energy and comprehensively improve the development scale and utilization level of geothermal energy.
In addition, the document also specifies key tasks such as resource exploration, project development, industrial integration, and supervision and management to comprehensively promote the development and utilization of geothermal energy.
